World Twenty20 predictions

In case you had forgotten, apparantly there is a Twenty20 tournament about to take place.  What’s that?  You have been pre-occupied with the Ashes?  Shame on you!

By way of an antidote, here are my World Twenty20 predictions, each in 20 words or less*:

Who will win?

India are the bookies favourites, and with good reason. Loaded with explosive talent and IPL experience.

Who else will do well?

Australia, South Africa and possibly Sri Lanka.  Pakistan have the X-factor.

What about England?

Semi-finals would be a real achievement.  Will improve, but the stronger teams will be too much for them.

Any surprise upsets?

Bangladesh v Ireland is the most likely, but otherwise expect thrashings all round.

Who will be the player of the tournament?

Virender Sehwag

Which other players will make an impact?

Aside from the usual suspects, look out for Eoin Morgan. Shahid Afridi could be explosive, as well as Suresh Raina.

What about the women’s tournament?

England are heavy favourites, particularly with home advantage.
