What difference will Lee’s injury make?
Possibly not all that much. Whilst Lee is Australia’s most experienced test bowler, his record in England is not great. And he hasn’t played a test in a while, missing the tour of South Africa where Australia won with Johnson and Siddle doing most of the damage.
Having taken 6-76 against England Lions last week, it was assumed that he would play, so now Australia have to decide who to replace him with. Johnson and Siddle will play, along with two from Stuart Clark, Nathan Hauritz, Ben Hilfenhaus and Andrew McDonald.
There is one thing to bear in mind – the team that stays injury free often wins the series, so this is at least an encouraging sign for England. They still have the trifling matter of outplaying the Aussies over 5 Tests though.
I’m pretty much sick of reading the correspondants and columnists continue to churn out the same tired nonsense in their War on Column Inches. Let the action begin.

We (England) need any edge we can get, if that comes from Oz having some bad luck with injuries sobeit. Could this turn out to be as important as Glenn McGrath’s injury back in 2005? Probably not, but I’d take winning back the Ashes on (almost) any terms.

Lee’s batting may be missed a bit.
