EC: I don't know that such a drastic change will make any difference if those teams still don't take the format seriously - see comment 2.

I am in favour of a change to reduce matches, but this is not the right way to go. Better to further divide the existing teams in my opinion.

CBB: They did have the miked up players (and umps) during the CLT20. Otherwise, your points are spot on - county cricket doesn't understand a format that it only invented a few years ago.

The thing that will force them to change is if Sussex & Somerset take their game to the next level as a result, and sweep all before them in domestic T20 next summer.

In terms of this competition, there wasn't much to choose between Sussex & Somerset - both were out of their depth, particularly with the bat, but Somerset had the luck to play an IPL team.

All you need to do is watch a game on Sky Sports to see the problems. I have always felt that T20 in England is treated like a joke and just a bit of fun, when it first started out this was the case, it was just a laugh to get kids interested and bring adults in on their way home from work. No one in English cricket seems to have noticed that T20 has moved on.

A major gripe I've had for a couple of years now is the talking to the players through the mic and the ear piece from the Sky commentary box while he is trying to field, or in a captains case set his field (In fairness I've not watched any Champions League games so pull me up if they do the same there!), I'm not being a killjoy, it's just that in any form of serious sport would this be allowed to happen? Test cricket maybe?

It just gives me the impression that the whole thing is treated as a bit of slapstick, in what is fast becoming a multi-million pound version of the game to see a bloke having a laugh and a joke with David Lloyd during the game shows we don't take it seriously enough. When is a Director of Cricket at some county going to grasp the nettle and tell Sky that they can't do this any more.

Also when the international T20 was abandoned at Old Trafford earlier this year you had blokes in the Sky commentary box suggesting they bowl from one end, that the game is just a bit of entertainment, while we still have this sideshow 'Its a knockout' attitude to T20 I can't see anything changing.

From what I've read and the scorecards I've seen Sussex were out of their depth and Somerset just about hung in there for as long as they could, maybe now the penny might have dropped and they will show a bit more professionalism towards T20 next season!

Maybe now a couple of County Chairmen have seen first hand what is on offer out in India and how far behind we are there could just be a change in the whole approach, don't bet on it though.

I'd have to agree with Andy Nash. England are far behind in audience levels and excitement. The ECB are reluctant to change the formats and bring in more excitement. To do that the ECB needs to reduce the amount of teams by joining 2 neighbouring counties. That means the best players are on show and in the long term, the standard will rise.
