England’s ODI win shifts opinions

Suddenly, we will be viewing the winter tour of West Indies as a greater success having won the One Day series:

  • We were unlucky to have lost the test series, in reality we were a mere three wickets from winning it
  • Twenty20 is just a slog-a-thon and the natural order was restored during the 50-over matches
  • Strauss is a good captain and is starting to turn things around
  • Andy Flower should be given the coaching job permanently
  • Everything bad was Kevin Pietersen’s fault
  • Australia won’t stand a chance this summer
  • Freddie’s return saved the day

If the match had been lost, the response would have been:

  • We are one of the poorest teams in world cricket
  • The players are overpaid, lazy and arrogant
  • Flower and Strauss aren’t good enough
  • Everything else is Kevin Pietersen’s fault
  • Australia will walk all over us this summer
  • If only Freddie hadn’t got injured

My, what a fickle bunch we are, and what a difference a day makes.  Oh, and sorry, KP – damned if you do, damned if you don’t I guess.
